Nonprofits Going Green

As resources are scarce and climate change is on the rise, it has become imperative that individuals, organizations and communities transition to environmentally sustainable practices and technologies. Individuals and organizations have many more options and knowledge about “going green” than ever before but “going green” still takes concerted and well planned effort. Nonprofits are natural laboratories for learning, testing new ways to serve constituents, and modeling new approaches to existing problems. Nonprofits are concerned about fundraising in a challenging economy, increased expenses, board and staff buy in and how to juggle this amongst many competing priorities.
The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties is providing an opportunity to address this need and opportunity through the Nonprofits Going Green Program. The goals of the overall Nonprofits Going Green Program include to raise awareness, capacity, motivation within the nonprofit community in Palm Beach and Martin Counties to improve the environmental sustainability of their operations and to raise public and corporate awareness and support for the nonprofit community.
