Our hearts go out to the people in Haiti who are suffering from the recent earthquake there. Today, help is urgently needed for those organizations experienced in disaster relief and have a presence in the country. As time goes on, we anticipate that our region may also welcome victims of the disaster from Haiti. We are exploring ways we can help support families and individuals who help shelter and support those from Haiti who seek refuge here.
Philanthropy differs from charity. Traditionally, philanthropy reflects long-term strategic investments to create lasting change. Charity is more short term and immediate. During times of natural disaster, both philanthropy and charity respond together to help people and communities.
